Different types of Adsense ads that work best for your site

Today I would like to talk about Adsense ads customization and various types of Adsense ads available in Google. Google offers a mixture of Adsense ads sizes. There are plenty that you can choose, from large 160 x 600 wide skyscraper banners to small 125 x 125 button squares.

Furthermore, apart from content units, Google also introduces text link units, video units, and search units as your adsense ads. Some publishers prefer large rectangles while others place a single small square on their pages. Some opt for images while others want only text links.

Size and type of Adsense ads determine the payout you’ll get from Google every time your ads clicked by visitors. Let’s go through each and every ads size so that you get better understanding on how and where to apply those ads in your sites.

The 720 x 90 leader board is commonly placed in the website header area. It is so visible on the top of a website, and if you enable images, you may get an actual banner most of the time. Other horizontal ads sizes available to choose are 486 x 60 banners and 234 x 60 half banner which are suitable to be placed slightly under header or mostly in the middle of website.

The most popular vertical Adsense sizes amongst publishers are the two towers – 120 x 600 skyscrapers and 160 x 600 wide skyscrapers. Tower ads are widely used at the right or left website sidebar. In this tower category, you will also get the 120 x 240 vertical banners which is the smallest tower ad.

There are six varieties of squares in Adsense ads. The largest is the 336 x 280 large rectangles. Many publishers have concluded that this particular Adsense size’s ad is their best performing so far. Other squares include the 300 x 250 medium rectangles, the 250 x 250 square, the 200 x 200 small squares, 180 x 150 small rectangles and the 125 x 125 small squares. All these squares are generally blended in the middle and inside website contents (between article’s paragraphs).

The small sizes display only one single ad. Smaller ad size doesn’t mean that you’ll get less income. Besides, if you use small size ad without any other units, you may find that your clicks have a higher payout than average.

Do not only focus on a traditional Adsense for Content units. Instead of content units, Google also offers text link units which can help to improve your click through rate (CTR) on Adsense ads in your website. Adsense text link units come in six sizes and feature four or five links.

In addition, Google has improved their Adsense for Search ad feature. Adsense for Search allows you to place a Google search bar on your web site. You will get paid a fraction of the money if people search a keyword phrase using Google search bar and then click on the ads on the page it generates.

Adsense for Feeds is also one of the options you can choose to make money from Google. Adsense for Feeds requires you to have an account with Feedburner. You can get paid by placing Adsense ads inside your RSS feed pages.

Other type of Adsense ads is Adsense for Domains. Sometimes you may register a nice and fancy domain name which you do not know what to do with it yet. Rather than sitting around without doing anything with it, you can set the domain as park domain in your webhosting account and make money from Adsense for Domains website. I will explain further on how to optimize and earn more income from Adsense for Domains in the other post.

Next is an Adsense Video unit. An Adsense Video unit also is one of best options to make good money from Adsense. You can place videos from YouTube on your site and make money from them using Adsense Video units.

Finally, if your website is set up so that mobile units can access them, placing Adsense for Mobile Content can bring you another revenue stream. As you can see there are a variety of Google Adsense sizes and programs. Figuring out which ones will make you the most money is part of the job of every Adsense publisher.

Keep in mind that testing various sizes is part and parcel of what internet marketers do. So, test all of the Google Adsense sizes. And remember if you are having trouble understanding the different ad options available to you Google has extensive help files and forums that you can use to get help.
