Adsense is one of the best ways to make money through a website or a blog. Google would place ads on your site and you would be paid in accordance to the clicks on those ads. Obviously, you won’t get rich overnight, but with consistent efforts Adsense can provide a steady stream of income. Here are a few ways in which you can optimise your site in order to maximise your income.

To begin with, you must design your website according to your Adsense spaces. Most beginners often do it the other way round. If you happen to have only one or two Adsense blocks on your website then position them in prominent areas. Most professionals place their ads above the page fold, so that users do not have to scroll down after clicking on the ad.

Secondly, pick only the higher paying ads. For the most part, Google would pay the higher paying ad on the first ad space on your site and the other ads are placed in the subsequent places. Multiple ad spaces do not fetch the same amount money as compared to the higher paying ad spaces.

Always write keyword-rich content for your site. Such a way, your website would be optimised with keywords in a natural way. Keyword rich content would also draw more traffic on your site, however do not go overboard with the use of keywords.

Lastly, it is extremely important to experiment with Adsense. Try and look out for innovative ways to place your ads and get more clicks. Adsense allows you to create channels for ads, so that you can trace which ads are doing better than others. Experiment with different fonts, colours and ad placements, so as to hit upon the best possible combination to gain the highest number of ad clicks.
